Finding the Positive

Wow! It’s been just over a year since I wrote anything here. I knew I needed a break from the blog as I felt I was getting a bit stale…but I didn’t actually intend to leave for this long. Having said that, I know I am ready to return to blogging again. Although I am not any kind of brilliant writer, the process of getting words out of my head and onto the screen helps to keep my mind uncluttered.  Continue reading

A Hint of Blue

I think I mentioned in my last post that I have been making a lot of baby quilts lately. I think they are perfect, especially for the first baby, and it seems to be baby season amongst the people in my life right now. But that’s OK, as baby quilts can be relatively quick and easy to complete AND babies are just awesome!

WIP Wednesday: The final

I feel my Wednesday WIP posts only ever show such small amounts of progress because of the small amount of time I get to sew that I may no longer write them. It’s really feeling like more of a filler post, than being anything of substance…and that’s not the content I want my blog to comprise of. So this will be the last WIP Wednesday post. I will probably do progress posts in the future, but they won’t be set on a specific timeframe. I feel this is how it needs to work for me right now.

50 Shades of…Blue

There have been a lot of baby quilts in my life lately! So many friends having babies, and it’s so lovely.

The hardest thing for this girl though, is in keeping the design simple so that it doesn’t take me months and months to get the quilt completed.

I was inspired by this quilt when it popped up in my Facebook feed one day. I thought it was such a simple, yet striking quilt for a little one and very easy to piece together. So I made it my mission to start collecting as much Kona as possible. Luckily my friend Sel from Mad Quilter’s Disease had completed an AMAAAAZING original quilt using 250+ Kona solids a couple of years ago (seriously, check it out here) so I knew she had lots of Kona in her stash that she would be happy to let me raid and pay for.
